2009 Season Wrap-up

Thanks to everybody who helped to make An Appalachian Summer Festival such a success in 2009. Among other notables...

  • We had three sellout shows—Joan Baez, Paula Poundstone and Pilobolus;
  • Total festival attendance was approximately 26,000;
  • The July 3rd Turchin Center reception had over 800 people in attendance; and
  • Kenny Loggins drew over 4,500 people for the Festival Finale Concert.

In addition, we would like to congratulate Trace O'Connor as the winner of the 23rd Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition for his sculpture Iscariot. O'Connor's work, as well as the works of twelve other sculptors, will continue to be displayed on the Appalachian campus—as well as in downtown Boone—until March 2010.

Thank You!
