SkyBest Mainstage Series Event:

An Evening with Paula Poundstone

Friday, July 17, 2009 · 8pm

Farthing Auditorium[ Map ]

Appalachian State University

Boone, North Carolina

Sponsored by Westglow Resort & Spa

Appearing on stage with a stool, a microphone, and a can of Diet Pepsi, Paula Poundstone is famous for her razor-sharp wit and spontaneity. She is so quick and unassuming that audience members often leave complaining that their cheeks hurt from laughter and debating whether the random people she talked to were "plants." Her interactions with live audiences are the stuff of legend.

The star of several HBO comedy specials and her own TV show, late night talk show guest star, author and Emmy award-winner Poundstone was the first woman to perform at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

As a regular panelist on National Public Radio's weekly news quiz program Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me, her off-kilter sensibility and impeccable timing make her a perfect fit for the show, as she matches wits with some of today's leading pundits. An avid reader, she was recently named the national spokesperson for Friends of Libraries USA—a citizens group that raises money for local libraries.

This is Paula Poundstone's first appearance at Appalachian.
